I work with fabric and organic materials like spices, beeswax and oil essences. Fabric suits my sculptural investigation because it is weightless and can be manipulated in order to create volumes as well as flat surfaces.

My works are inspired on the heart. This organ is a complex and open system that challenges my imagination. The heart is a strong muscle, animated by an almost imperceptible electrical discharge.  I see in this fascinating event similarities with sculpture-making.  In sculpture, light, smell, temperature and sound engage in a dialogue with dense matter.  Alchemical transformation happens and a form is created.

I compare fabric to flesh. The organic materials I work with are the breath and the pulse of this skin.  Flesh is live memory; it accumulates information which is then passed on to the inner body. My pieces are created through a similar accumulation process; my actions add up in form of wrinkles, curls or wholes.

The aim of these works is to arrive, through experience, to a state beyond language. My sculptures are meant to be acquainted with slowly in contemplation.  They expand in the invisible through the smell of beeswax, spices and oil essences, stimulating memories hidden within the body.
